Even with the rain, Ferragosto 2018 was a blast! A day filled with Italian culture, fantastic food and wonderful entertainment. We’re already looking forward to next year! We can’t wait for you to experience first-hand the neighborhood’s old-world charm and tradition of good-taste. In the meantime visit Bronx Little Italy to learn more about our other events throughout the year. Of course you’re always welcome to the neighborhood to enjoy one of our world-class restaurants and shop at our high-quality artisan food shops and specialty stores carrying superb handmade local and imported items.

Full History

Going back centuries, the Ferragosto tradition recognizes the end of the harvest season and to enjoy the fruits of those labors.  It is a way for families to engage in part of the Italian culture and coming together in a solid bond of family and friendship. Over 15 years ago, merchants of the Arthur Avenue/Belmont section decided to bring the Italian tradition to the Bronx and engage visitors from the Tri-State area and beyond in Italian culture, traditions, music and of course, the greatest food. The Ferragosto event continues to grow each year with an average of 20,000 guests who travel from  near and far to make it part of their family tradition. This year we also celebrate 100 years for Arthur Avenue.  Generations of family-owned businesses continue to thrive and appeal to people from all over with their small-town charm, family atmosphere  and  preservation of Italian culture like no other area around. We hope to see you at Ferragosto in New York’s “Real” Little Italy and experience first-hand its old-world charm and tradition of good taste.  It’s the culinary destination for dining, hand-made and imported Italian products and so much more. The Ferragosto celebration includes traditional Italian Street Performances, celebrity guests, great music, kid activities and more, so take a look at more Ferragosto Entertainment information.

There is an “Arthur” Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, also. My Papa lived there when he came from Italy. It seems to have been where all the Italians gathered to be near each other. We celebrate the Feast of the Assumption on August 15 in our Little Italy.
